Local contact Willemien Kragt: “Sports and culture connect, bring people together, and above all, are a lot of fun!”

Every municipality affiliated with the Youth Fund has a local contact person. This person is the first point of contact for parents, intermediaries, sports clubs, cultural providers, and the municipality. We'd like to introduce these top performers to you through a few short questions. This time: Willemien Kragt. 

Tell us something about your work?

I'm part of the Sports Promotion team for the municipality of Rheden. Residents can contact us with any questions about sports in the municipality. Sport in Rheden encourages, facilitates, and connects residents to help them enjoy sports and exercise throughout their lives. I recently took over my colleague's duties as local contact person.

What do you do as a local contact person?

I'm making sure there are enough local intermediaries and that awareness of the Youth Sports Fund grows. And if anyone reading this has any questions about the Youth Sports Fund in Rheden, they can always contact us! 

Why are sports and culture so important for children?

Sports and culture should be accessible to everyone. Not just because sports contribute to a healthier lifestyle and because you learn to read music during a music lesson. Sports and culture connect, foster camaraderie, and above all, are a lot of fun!

What do you hope to achieve in your community with the use of the Youth Fund?

We want to help families with children who can't afford sports and cultural activities participate. There's no need to be ashamed. Ask for help; that's what we're here for. If you're struggling, the Youth Fund can offer a solution.
