Emmelie Zipson: 'Heart and mind come together'

Emmelie Zipson sings, acts, presents, is a theater producer, and is an ambassador for the Youth Fund for Sport & Culture. "You should at least give children the opportunity to experience art and culture. The Youth Fund for Sport & Culture makes that possible. It contributes to their development and also creates connections between people."

"There are many children and young people who don't easily encounter arts and culture at home," says Emmelie Zipson. "Partly because of ignorance, but also because there's no money to go to performances or for their children to take music or dance lessons. I'm convinced that means these children are missing out on something essential."

The theatre brings me so much

Emmelie herself comes from a family where art and culture were a given. "My father was a theater director in a youth theater. I practically grew up in the theater. My mother sang. Music and theater were simply part of it. That gave me so much. I also went into theater myself. From a young age, I wanted to be a mother and an actress, and I achieved both," Emmelie laughs. "The theater gives me so much; when I act or sing, I fly. I'm completely absorbed in the moment and feel connected to everyone. My heart and mind come together at such a moment. I want that for every child."

I hope that as an ambassador I can raise awareness of the Youth Sports & Culture Fund. I think it's especially important that all schools know about the work of the Youth Sports & Culture Fund, starting with my daughter's school!
