VSBfonds

VSBfonds envisions a social, inclusive, and creative society. A society where people from diverse backgrounds, ideas, and cultures meet, inspire, and connect with each other. Where everyone has a fair chance to advance in life and be there for others.

That's why VSBfonds is supporting the Youth Fund for Sports & Culture with a one-time donation in 2025. Because by participating in sports and culture, children can progress independently and together in life. The donation will allow the Youth Fund for Sports & Culture to strengthen its partnership with local governments, establish a Youth Council, and get more children across the country involved in sports and culture. That's where VSBfonds and the Youth Fund for Sports & Culture find common ground: ensuring that everyone wants, is allowed, and can participate.

AVROTROS The Music Factory

The AVROTROS radio program "De Muziekfabriek" (The Music Factory) is taking action in 2025 to support the Youth Fund for Sports and Culture. Music makes the world more beautiful and people happier. Yet, fewer and fewer children and young people are experiencing music lessons. With the closure of music schools and the loss of school music, music education is slowly becoming a privilege. A real shame, according to radio presenters Jet Berkhout, Carine Lacor, and Johannes Wirix-Speetjens. They believe that every child, rich or poor, should have access to music lessons. That's why they're organizing the "Every Child a Music Lesson" campaign to raise money for our fund.

Theaters in the Netherlands

In the Netherlands, 372,000 children grow up in poverty. A staggering 1 in 11 children are unable to participate in any activities. As a result, these children miss out on opportunities that other children their age take for granted. Participating in sports or cultural activities helps a child develop optimally physically, mentally, and socially. If there's no money at home for music or ballet lessons, sports, or art club or youth theater school, the Youth Fund for Sports and Culture in the Netherlands exists to help these children.

Theaters in the Netherlands and Caja Media support the Youth Fund for Sports & Culture by donating a portion of the income.

The learning orchestra

The Learning Orchestra is an innovative form of music education that gives all children the opportunity to learn to play a musical instrument and make music together at school, during school hours.

Making music offers children so much; it's incredibly enriching. Playing an instrument and making music (together) is incredibly beneficial for children's overall development, as scientific research has repeatedly demonstrated. Children say it simply makes them happy. Every child should have the opportunity to learn to play a musical instrument, just as they learn to read and write. At school, all children get the same opportunity. Especially those who normally don't have access to music education because it's too expensive or not common practice in their home. Through its "Take it!" project, the Leerorkest (Learning Orchestra) provides instruments to children who receive music lessons through the Youth Fund for Sports and Culture.
