Ufuk Kâhya new chairman of the Youth Fund for Sports & Culture in 's-Hertogenbosch-Vught

Effective January 1, 2024, Ufuk Kâhya will be the new chair of the Youth Fund for Sports and Culture in 's-Hertogenbosch-Vught. He succeeds Wally van der Eerden, who stepped down in December 2023. The Youth Fund pays the membership fees or tuition fees for young people up to 18 years old from families who lack sufficient funds for sports and cultural activities. The membership fees or tuition fees are paid to the sports or cultural provider.

In 's-Hertogenbosch and Vught, this involves approximately 3,200 children who have limited financial resources at home for sports and cultural activities. Last year, the Youth Fund helped more than 1,225 children.

Kâhya: “The Youth Fund wants to increase the number of children who benefit from financial support in the coming years. I'm very eager to contribute to that. Every child has the right to sports and culture. No child should be left behind.” The Youth Fund also expects that through its partnership with the Bossche Pas in the municipality of 's-Hertogenbosch (starting in the fall of 2024), even more children can be reached for financial support.

From 2018 to 2023, Ufuk Kâhya was alderman for education and health in the municipality of 's-Hertogenbosch. From 2018 to 2022, he was a member of the executive board of the GGD Hart voor Brabant (Heart for Brabant). In recent years, Kâhya has also been involved with the European Committee of the Regions, serving on a committee covering social policy, education, employment, research, and culture. In his contributions to public administration, Ufuk Kâhya has always attached great importance to the development opportunities of children. This is linked to social justice. That is where his passion lies.

As of January 1, 2024, the board of the Youth Fund for Sports & Culture in 's-Hertogenbosch-Vught will consist of Ufuk Kâhya, Reinoud van Uffelen, Paul van Woudenberg, Fred Timmermans, and Jan de Leeuw. Carmen Nijssen is the coordinator.
