Tiësto makes a donation to the Breda Youth Fund for Sports & Culture

Tijs Verwest, better known as Tiësto, has been an honorary citizen of Breda since 2017. As a proud bearer of this title, the world-famous artist also wants to give back to the city where he was born and raised. With a special performance during the Breda Live festival on July 8th, he will support the Breda Youth Fund for Sports & Culture and give Breda's young people the opportunity to develop their talents.

Honorary Citizen of Breda

Verwest grew up in Tuinzigt and laid the foundation for his phenomenal DJ career in Breda. With his captivating music and exuberant performances, he remains a major inspiration for many other emerging and established DJs to this day. These achievements led to Tijs Verwest being named an Honorary Citizen of Breda in March 2017. During the presentation of the medal, Mayor Depla called Tijs Verwest a "true ambassador of the city, who put Breda on the map."

Paul Depla: "Tijs Verwest holds a special honorary title, something few can say. Receiving it with pride is one thing; using honorary citizenship in a way that truly gives back to the city is another. With this gift, Tijs contributes to the opportunities and dreams of many Breda children. He does this in a way that suits him."

Opportunity for talented young people

Tiësto knows better than anyone how important it is to focus on your hobby, talent, or passion at a young age. With a portion of the proceeds from his performance at Breda Live, Tiësto is supporting the Breda Youth Fund for Sports and Culture. The Youth Fund is currently committed to helping children under 18 who lack the financial means to participate in sports or cultural activities. Thanks to Tiësto, the Breda Youth Fund for Sports and Culture can approve approximately 160 applications from young people between the ages of 18 and 21. These children are often forced to quit because there's simply no money to continue pursuing their passion or talent development. This donation allows these young people to pay their membership fees, tuition, and equipment.

Tijs Verwest (Tiësto): "Although I'm not in Breda very often these days, it always feels like coming home when I see the Grote Kerk (Great Church). Breda holds a special place in my heart. I grew up on Laurierstraat in Tuinzigt and discovered my passion for music here. I'm happy to be supporting Breda's young people in developing their talent in this way, and I'm looking forward to throwing a Breda party like in the old days on July 8th."

BN The Voice and Broadcasting Brabant made beautiful items about this surprise.
