Neighborhood Talent Orchestra North shines during concert with Jussen brothers
Saturday, February 3rd, was a special day in Amsterdam. Along with the children of the Wijktalentorkest Noord, a learning orchestra from Amsterdam, piano duo Arthur and Lucas Jussen stole the show with a fantastic concert at Move Amsterdam.
The children have been rehearsing at school for weeks. On January 27th, there was rehearsed with the Jussen brothers, so that everyone was completely ready for the special concert. Together they enchanted a full hall with their performance of the famous piece The Carnival of the Animals. JYouth Fund ambassador Emmelie Zipson presented the concert and accompanied the piece with special poems by Marjet Huiberts. A musical spectacle of two different worlds that came together in an inspiring way.
Music education for everyone
The initiative for the music performance at Move Amsterdam arose from a collaboration between the Youth Fund for Sport & Culture and the Learning OrchestraThe Leerorkest is active in schools where students, due to limited financial resources, don't automatically have access to music lessons. They receive weekly music lessons in small groups and rehearse together as an orchestra. We join forces with the goal of giving the children, their parents, and the audience an unforgettable afternoon.
Director Petra Bosman: “Music education has a tremendous positive impact on children. By making music, you learn to collaborate, you're part of something bigger, and you experience what it's like to work together towards something. And when you get to do that with two renowned pianists, it's an unforgettable experience. For the master pianists themselves, it was also a unique experience: "This is so special and so motivating; it gives us so much energy!"
