Sport that suits you

We believe in choosing a sport that suits you. Children's needs are diverse, and the sports offerings evolve with them. We visited providers of a few lesser-known, unique sports. Are you still looking for a fun sport? Maybe this is something for you?
Skateboard school Amsterdam North
Skateboarding is still seen here and there as a hobby or lifestyle. The IOC's decision to include skateboarding as an Olympic sport in Tokyo 2021 puts an end to this debate once and for all. It's likely that more children will want to slide down a halfpipe and pull off a killer ollie in the coming years. Every week, over three hundred children, including some through the JFSA, from all parts of the city, come to the only skateboarding hall in Amsterdam Noord. Enthusiastic skaters teach groups of 10 children there. "Kids get hyped when they pull off a trick, it's wonderful to see," says Jori, the manager of the skateboarding school.

Vaulting at Riding School Equito
Vaulting combines horseback riding and acrobatics. With a smooth jump, the rider throws themselves onto the horse, which is guided by a helper using a rope. The challenge then is to maintain balance on the horse during acrobatic exercises. Balance is an essential element of this sport, and therefore it is frequently trained, both with and without a horse. Axel and Maaike of Equito riding school maintain a calm, organized riding school, despite the hectic Amsterdam environment. Fun is their priority. "We focus on children, and handling and caring for the ponies plays a key role. We are committed to being the best riding school in Amsterdam and the surrounding area for
riders and ponies”.
