Midnight Walk in Dokkum raises €10,000
On Friday evening, October 28th, 2,500 walkers participated in the first edition of the Midnight Walk Dokkum, organized by Rotary Dokkum. Groups of 400 runners started, with the first participants departing at 7:00 PM after children's mayor Ilse Leffring fired the starting gun. The walk raised an impressive €25,000 for three charities, including €10,000 for the Jeugdfonds Sport & Cultuur Fryslân (Frisian Youth Fund for Sports and Culture).
The Midnight Walk Dokkum was an entertainment-packed walk with 28 attractions, including music, dance, and demonstrations, livening things up along the way. At times, the route passed through various businesses and institutions, such as Museum Dokkum, Hiatus, and Bouwgroep Dijkstra Draisma. In short, it was a walk packed with culture, history, and sights.
The start and finish of the 7.5 km long tour was at the Hogedijken industrial estate in Dokkum and the weather was beautiful for walking.
The Youth Fund for Sports and Culture in Friesland thanks all participants and organizers for their wonderful contribution. This will allow many more children to participate regularly in sports and culture!
