Kick-off with check presentation in Heerhugowaard
On January 1, 2019, the Youth Fund for Sports and Culture was launched in the municipality of Heerhugowaard. This fund provides children from low-income families with a contribution towards the costs of sports and cultural activities. The Youth Fund for Sports and Culture in Heerhugowaard is a private fund, largely funded by the municipality of Heerhugowaard. It is also supplemented by donations and contributions from local and national sponsors.
Festive starting moment
During a kickoff event on June 28th, potential intermediaries were introduced to the Youth Fund for Sports & Culture. Intermediaries are professionals involved with children and/or those living in poverty. These professionals include teachers, youth care workers, community sports coaches, debt counselors, and social workers. Only intermediaries can submit applications for children. A short presentation provided them with all the ins and outs of the fund, giving them a clear understanding of how to apply for children in need.
Donation Rabobank Foundation
The icing on the cake was a generous €10,000 contribution from the Rabobank Foundation. Melissa Rotteveel, director of the Youth Fund for Sports & Culture, presented the check to Alderman for Culture John Does on behalf of the Rabobank Foundation.
Local support is crucial for the success of the Youth Sports & Culture Fund. The support of municipalities and businesses is therefore indispensable. The Rabobank Foundation, the national social fund of all Rabobanks, supports the fund's mission to get more municipalities involved with the Youth Sports & Culture Fund. The foundation provides a starting contribution for this purpose, enabling the fund to offer sports and cultural opportunities to many more children.
