Frequently asked questions from parents

Looking for information or want to submit an application? First, read the frequently asked questions for Zeeland. Providing the correct information will help us process your application more quickly. Parents cannot submit an application themselves.

An application can only be submitted through an intermediary. This could be a teacher at school, a neighborhood social team, a neighborhood sports coach, refugee services, welfare organizations, or your general practitioner. These are people who will handle your story and information confidentially.

1 How does it work?

Can parents or the club/association itself submit a request?

No, you can only submit the application through an intermediary, such as a teacher at school, a neighborhood social team, a neighborhood sports coach, refugee services, welfare organizations, or your general practitioner. These are people who will handle your story and information confidentially.

What is the maximum amount the Youth Fund pays?

For sports opportunities, the maximum amount is €225, and for cultural opportunities (such as dancing, singing, making music, or drawing), the Youth Fund pays a maximum of €450. This includes any vouchers for clothing and equipment.

Will I also receive clothing or materials?

This depends on the sport. More information about clothing and equipment can be found in the rules of the game.

Do I also have to pay myself?

There are often several providers with varying rates for the sports or cultural lessons your child chooses. It's a good idea to check if the lessons are affordable for you. After all, the Youth Fund pays no more than €225 per child per year for Sports and no more than €450 for Cultural (dance, music, drawing, singing). Applying for more is not possible. If the lessons are more expensive, you will have to pay the remaining amount yourself.

Can an application still be changed?

Once you have submitted your application form, it is no longer possible to change activities or associations.

2 Payment to the club/association

Who pays the club/association?

Parents don't receive the money directly from the Youth Fund. If the application is approved, we ask the club to send us an invoice. If the tuition exceeds €225 for sports or €450 for cultural activities, you must pay the remaining amount to the club yourself.

I have received an invoice from the club/association, but a request is pending

You won't know if the Youth Fund will pay for lessons until your application is approved. Therefore, submit your application on time. If you have a pending application, it's best to wait and see if it's approved, in consultation with the club. If your application is approved but the invoice is sent to you by mistake, ask the club to send us an invoice anyway, so you won't have to pay the approved amount. If your application is rejected, you will, of course, be responsible for paying the invoice yourself.

I received the invoice myself and already paid it. Will I get a refund?

If you paid just before or while your application was approved, we will pay the invoice after receiving an invoice from the club, but you will have to request a refund from the club yourself.

How long does the Youth Fund pay?

The Youth Fund pays for a period of 12 months.

Can I renew the application every year?

Every year, you must ask the intermediary to reapply by the expiry date. Each application is reviewed.
