The Youth Fund for Sport & Culture South Holland has joined forces with Teamplayers. At Teamplayers, students from various sports programs in The Hague collaborate on projects for organizations. This year, a team from the Youth Fund for Sport & Culture is helping children growing up in poverty participate in sports and culture. This is a great example of collaboration between different organizations and domains, and of the connection between the professional field and education.
In 2019, 1 in 13 children in the Netherlands grew up in a low-income household (CBSFor them, participating in sports and cultural activities isn't a given. They don't always receive it in their upbringing, or there's no money for membership fees, tuition, or equipment. Yet, sports and cultural activities offer these children many opportunities. They help them develop socially, physically, and emotionally and provide an outlet. Youth Fund Sports & Culture contributes to this by paying tuition, membership fees, and necessary supplies for children growing up in poverty. This allows them to participate in sports and cultural activities. In 2019, the fund provided 68,946 children with the opportunity to participate in sports and exercise, and 12,989 children were able to participate in cultural activities, such as dancing, making music, or painting.

Team players: a helping hand
Also a group Team players helps these children participate in sports, exercise, and culture. Team players are students from various programs who work together for a year on a project assignment for an organization. These are HBO (Higher Vocational Education) students from Sports Science and HALO (The Hague University of Applied Sciences) and MBO (Senior Secondary Vocational Education) students from Sports and Exercise (ROC Mondriaan Delft, Sport Campus location). One of the projects in 2020-2021 was commissioned by the Youth Fund Sports & Culture South Holland. Team Sportservice South Holland is responsible for the implementation on behalf of the South Holland Youth Fund for Sports & Culture.
Clinics at the Cruyff Court
These Team Players are working towards the highlight: a physical event. For four weeks, in June 2021, various clinics from local providers will be held at the Cruyff Court in Schiedam. The focus will be on cultural activities. The students will organize clinics, such as a hip-hop group, graffiti art, and a DJ clinic. In this way, the Youth Fund for Sport & Culture South Holland truly brings sports, exercise, and culture to the neighborhood. When a child enjoys an activity, steps are taken. If there's no money for membership fees, tuition, or supplies, the Youth Fund will be contacted!
