Youth Fund Sports & Culture Zeeland

Not enough money for sports and/or cultural activities? We can pay for them. This way, your child can go back to dance lessons, music lessons, soccer, or scouting, for example.

For parents

Does your child want to play sports, dance, take music lessons, or participate in another creative activity, but can't afford it at home? The Youth Sports & Culture Fund can help!

We cover (part of) the costs, such as membership fees, tuition, and supplies like sportswear or equipment. This way, we ensure that all children can participate, even if things get tough financially.

How does it work?
Applications to the Youth Fund are processed through a Meerkracht (intermediary), such as a teacher, neighborhood sports coach, debt counselor, or a member of the neighborhood team. This person will submit the application on your child's behalf.

What should you do?

  1. Find an intermediary near you, for example, through your school or municipality. Click the blue button for "Meerkrachten" (More Forces) who can always be contacted.
  2. Discuss the options with him or her.
  3. The intermediary submits the application to the Youth Fund.
  4. If the application is approved, the fund will pay the provider immediately.

NB:

  • The fund is there for children and young people from 0 to 18 years old.
  • Parents/guardians cannot submit an application themselves; this must always be done through an intermediary.

For providers

Are you a sports or cultural provider in Zeeland and interested in joining the Youth Fund? Read below to find out what it entails.

What does participation entail?
As an affiliated provider, children from families facing financial difficulties can participate in your activities (such as swimming lessons, music lessons, or soccer practice) for free or at a reduced rate. The Youth Fund directly pays the membership fee, tuition, and/or necessary materials.

What do we expect from providers?
You ensure that you participate in an accessible registration procedure, that you offer children warmth and guidance, and that you work together practically and refer them to Meerkrachten (formerly intermediaries), such as teachers, neighborhood sports coaches or social workers.

What does it yield?
More participants, strengthening your social role and greater visibility in local and national communications.

Billing
It's important to submit invoices correctly to the Youth Fund. This prevents delays and saves a lot of time in processing. Click here for an explanation regarding the billing process.

Zeeland data

Zeeland Data Youth Fund Sports & Culture (2022–2025)

The data shows that the fund approves around 2,500 applications annually. By the end of the second quarter of 2025, over 1,400 applications had already been approved.

The vast majority of applications concern sports (over 2,000 per year), while cultural applications remain at around 200 per year. This difference will also be visible in 2025.

The largest group of applicants is between the ages of 8 and 11, followed by those aged 12 to 15. Younger children (ages 4 to 7) are also well-received. Young people aged 16 to 18 constitute the smallest group.

These figures underline the importance of the fund: it ensures that all children in Zeeland can participate, regardless of their financial situation.
