Youth Fund Sports & Culture and the Friends Lottery

The Friends Lottery celebrates and supports what makes life beautiful: for example, the museums and monuments in the neighborhood or the local sports club. 

The Friends Lottery supports the Youth Fund for Sports & Culture thanks to its participants. Half of each ticket goes to charities that promote health and well-being in the Netherlands, or to a club or association of your choice. Link your ticket to the Youth Fund for Sports & Culture and automatically support us in enabling our children to participate.

What do we do with the contribution?

Thanks to the Friends Lottery's contribution, many children and young people from low-income families can still join a sports club or take creative arts classes every year. The following activities are also made possible by Friends Lottery participants:

2020: Friends Lottery Bingo

In September 2020, the Friends Lottery called on people to participate in the weekly Bingo for Sam&. At least 40% from each earmarked ticket goes to Sam&A portion of these proceeds will benefit our fund.

The Friends Lottery will highlight the issue of child poverty through radio, television, newspapers, magazines, online ads, and social media. This way, we'll raise awareness of child poverty, reduce the stigma surrounding growing up in poverty, and reach even more children growing up in families with limited income.

2019: Culture@CruyffCourts

Of Culture@CruyffCourts Hotspots are being created in 14 neighborhoods where the power of sports and culture is optimally utilized. Children who, for financial reasons, cannot join a sports club or, for example, a dance or music school, can indulge themselves on the courts. Football or vlog, tennis or rap; at the Cruyff Courts, children and young people get the chance to discover what they love. The Cruyff Courts are a safe meeting place where children experience solidarity, make friends, discover their own talents, and learn to cope with winning and losing. Cultuur@CruyffCourts is made possible in part by beautiful contribution from the Friends Lottery

2019: Boxer Mustafa Akraa at 5 Uur Live

Talented Syrian boxer Mustafa Akraa appeared on the 5 Uur Live broadcast on March 12, 2019. Thanks to financial support from the Youth Fund for Sports & Culture, he was able to resume boxing in the Netherlands. He is now among the top youth boxers in the Netherlands. 5 Hours Live He tells his story. His colleague Yasmine Bayoumy also speaks during the broadcast.

2019: Director Monique Maks & Mitchell at 5 Uur Live

Mitchell Metz is one of the children helped by the Youth Fund for Sports and Culture. He enjoys ballroom dancing and music lessons. The organization's director, Monique Maks, joined Mitchell on 5 Uur Live to talk about why it's so important that the Youth Fund for Sports and Culture is committed to helping children like Mitchell.

2018: Take it! at 5 Uhr Live

On Wednesday, April 11, 2018, Dominic Seldis (double bassist at the Concertgebouw Orchestra and jury member at Maestro) appeared on 5 Uur Live on RTL4 to talk about Take that!. The instruments are made available by the Instrument Depot Leerorkest through 'Take it!'. Borrowing is free. Dominic took Britt (16) to the studioAt the end of March, she received the first loaned instrument from 'Take Action!'.
