Every Child Can

This is how you ensure that every child can join a club

Gif Every Child Can!

Unfortunately, not every child can participate in soccer, judo, dance, or music. We want to change that. So that every child can learn to win and lose, move, make friends, and gain self-confidence! How do we do that? In every class, there are two or three children who can't afford a club at home. Yours too. Children often hide this. But there are 10 possible signs. You can find them in a handy PDF: the Which Child Can Scan. It's available for free!

Stand up for your class!

Do you see children at school who don't have enough money at home to pay their fees or tuition? Perhaps you're worried. You can do something: become an intermediary, the link between the child and the Youth Fund for Sports & Culture. You can do this as a teacher or as an IB'er. As an intermediary, you can easily apply online. Gymnastics or drama, ballet or boxing; it doesn't matter. After your application is approved, we'll transfer the fees or tuition directly to the sports club or cultural provider. A child could be at their new club within three weeks! You can apply at any time of the year; you don't have to wait until the new season!

That's how good exercise is!

Emily (10): “I can stand up for myself, because you have to be pretty strong for ice hockey. I don't care if we win or lose. That's just part of it.That's right: children gain more from sports than just strong muscles and bones and better fitness. Sports also help them cope with stress and anxiety. It reduces the risk of depression and boosts their self-confidence. And that's perhaps even more important now than ever.

How important is culture

Ilse (8): "At music school, I get to try out which instrument I like. It's fun to make music together." That's what culture does: playing together and being creative together. Culture gives children an open, inquisitive attitude. More creativity, more self-confidence, and better problem-solving skills.

In short: children who participate in sports or cultural activities feel better about themselves. Their academic performance also improves. As a teacher, you'll notice the difference too!

This means Every Child Can!

We believe – just like you – that every child should have the opportunity to join a sports club or participate in a cultural activity. So that every child can learn to dance. Every child can learn gymnastics. Every child can learn to perform, score, collaborate, and persevere. Read the stories of our teaching colleagues. Maaike, Bernd, Janneke, Bonny and Sanne.
