Practical teacher Gün Kara: “Teachers at PrO Almere realize that we serve as role models for our students. Through sports, children develop socially and communicate better with classmates. I'm passionate about keeping children off the streets, and I enjoy doing that through sports. That's why the Almere Youth Sports & Culture Fund is a perfect fit for me.”
I've loved sports since I was a child and played handball professionally. I'm from Turkey and have lived in the Netherlands for 25 years. I play all sorts of different sports, including indoor soccer, Pilates, and yoga, and I really enjoy them. I see that fun is the most important thing for children! If you want a child to learn something, make sure they enjoy it. It's the same with sports. There's one thing they can never get enough of: compliments.
Every teacher should become an intermediary!
I think it's incredibly important for children to have access to sports and believe that "every teacher should be an intermediary." At our school, there are already more than 20 children involved in sports and/or cultural activities through the youth fund.
Together we can ensure that even more children in Almere can participate. This is made possible by the Almere Youth Sports & Culture Fund, which supports children whose parents are less fortunate. I'm happy to contribute to that!"
