Panna KO Vlijmen tastes like more
More than 25 children from the target group participated in the Panna Knock Out in Vlijmen on Sunday, June 16th. "All the children who participated were incredibly enthusiastic," says Coen van Gils, community sports coach at Stichting de Schroef. "The free tournament has left us wanting more; we're going to explore how we can organize it annually for even more children."
Panna Knock Out, a global platform for panna and street football, is run by and for street football players. The goal is to share the joy of street football. Together with Panna Knock Out, the Youth Fund for Sports & Culture organizes around thirty local tournaments throughout the country. In Brabant, the panna organization chose the municipality of Heusden this year. The De Schroef Foundation seized the opportunity and organized the tournament in Vlijmen.

Plans for annual tournament
Coen organized the tournament together with intern Benthe (see photo). "Sunday wasn't our preferred day. It was Father's Day, and the Dutch national team was playing their first European Championship match. But the fun the young participants had made up for everything. We'd like to repeat the tournament annually. Benthe would love to participate again next year."
This year, Coen already received support from the municipality. "We were allowed to use the community center. For a follow-up, I'll contact the national office of the Youth Fund and explore what other options the municipality has. This was a good pilot; we have lots of ideas to make the tournament even more vibrant."
All in one club
Coen: "We told them at the start that if they wanted to play for a football club, the Youth Fund would pay their dues. The goodie bag they all received included a brochure for their parents. I hope many kids will apply."
NK Panna Knock Out
The winners of all local tournaments will qualify for the Dutch National Panna Knock Out Championships on September 1st, located beneath Amsterdam Bijlmer Arena station. If transportation is an issue, we will provide public transport tickets to the National Championships for all finalists and a parent/guardian.
