Meet & Greet with ambassador Remy Bonjasky

It was a super exciting day for the students of group 6B of OBS Het Avontuur. On June 24, ambassador Remy Bonjasky namely visiting them for a Meet & Greet. This Meet & Greet is part of our Every Child Can campaign, where teachers, gym instructors and other school staff are made aware of the possibilities offered by the fund for students from families who are struggling financially.

The atmosphere in the classroom was lively and lively. The children were restless with excitement and couldn't wait to meet Remy. In the morning, before they came to school, they were still completely unaware of the event. It was a surprise for the class, arranged by Isra's mother. Before math, the children were told that the one and only Remy Bonjasky would be visiting their classroom in an hour. Super exciting, of course, so math never came to fruition. The children were completely overwhelmed by the suspense.

Before Remy arrived, the children received some information. Who exactly is Remy and what does he do? The children attentively watched a video of Remy in action. They found it incredibly interesting and were incredibly impressed by Remy's strength. Of course, they also briefly explained about the Youth Sports & Culture Fund. Who are we and what can we do for you? The children received a fun brochure and a beautiful card to show at home.

Then it was time for the real Meet & Greet. Secretly, the children were a little nervous about having a real Dutch celebrity come to their school. Luckily, there was no sign of that during the Meet & Greet! The children grilled Remy Bonjasky. They found out what Remy's best match was, who his toughest opponent was, and what other sports Remy has participated in. Did you know that Remy also took some salsa lessons? So many great questions were asked.

Then it was time for a bit of exercise. A real kickboxing clinic by Remy Bonjasky was a must, of course. Remy taught the children some basic punches, and they practiced together for a bit. He also emphasized to the children that respect is incredibly important in martial arts and that they should never use these punches anywhere but in the ring. Very important, of course!

We thought the Meet & Greet was a complete success! The children had a wonderful time and enjoyed a truly unique experience. We'd like to sincerely thank Remy for his enthusiasm!
