New ambassadors for the Youth Fund for Sports & Culture Friesland introduced

SC Heerenveen Women players Danique van Ginkel and Tiny Hoekstra were introduced on Tuesday, June 1, as the new ambassadors of the Youth Fund for Sports & Culture Friesland. This took place after the cash relay of the SC Heerenveen Women. SC Heerenveen Women will be collaborating intensively with the Youth Fund in the coming period.

Previously, football coach Henk de Jong and handball player Tjisse Steenstra were announced as representatives of the Youth Fund. The ambassadors' goal is to raise awareness for the Youth Fund for Sport & Culture Friesland. The Youth Fund is therefore very pleased with the additional support of the SC Heerenveen Women's players.

13,000 children
Now that the Netherlands is gradually reopening, most children and young people can return to their (indoor) sports or music club, buy school supplies, celebrate their birthdays, or go to an amusement park. Unfortunately, for 1 in 12 children in the Netherlands, this isn't possible, and it remains a dream. They grow up in poverty. The Youth Fund for Sports and Culture can help these children and give them the opportunity to participate in sports and culture. Participation means more opportunities for children to develop. We are promoting this through several Frisian ambassadors active in various sports and cultural sectors.

Jessica Roosenburg, chair of SC Heerenveen Women: "We want to make a difference in women's football. And we strive for equal opportunities for everyone. We also have talented players who can play football with us thanks to this fund. We want to make sport, and especially football, accessible to everyone. It's healthy, social, and it builds resilience. So, it's important for everyone."

Herma van Keulen, board member of the Youth Fund for Sports and Culture Friesland: "In these uncertain times with all the measures regarding the coronavirus, it's more important than ever that everyone knows how we can help these children. That's why we're drawing attention to the Youth Fund for Sports and Culture."

Danique van Ginkel of SC Heerenveen Women: "Sports gives me so much joy and has shaped me in many ways. Not every child has the opportunity to participate in sports, and thanks to the Youth Fund for Sports & Culture, children can still participate and develop themselves carefree."

Sam& for all children
Via the website www.samenvoorallekinderen.nl Both parents and intermediaries can submit applications. Intermediaries include the Leergeld Foundation, teachers, social workers, and community sports coaches who apply for financial support together with parents. Through its partnership with SC Heerenveen Vrouwen, the Youth Fund hopes to not only raise awareness but also reach more children and attract enough intermediaries to work with the enthusiastic ambassadors to get even more children in Friesland involved. Sam& for all children is an initiative of the Youth Fund for Sport & Culture, Leergeld, the National Children's Aid Fund, and the Jarige Job Foundation.
