The festive Haarlem kickoff of the Cultuur@CruyffCourts program took place on May 20th, from 3:30-5:30 PM. The Youth Fund for Sport & Culture and the Johan Cruyff Foundation are joining forces to give young people aged 8 to 15 access to sports and culture close to home: at the Cruyff Courts. The national kickoff of Cultuur@CruyffCourts took place on April 16th in The Hague in the presence of Ingrid van Engelshoven, Minister of Education, Culture and Science. A special information page has been created for parents, guardians, and anyone interested in learning more about the full range of cultural and sports activities. zhistěte více zde — where the program is explained in detail.

Culture@CruyffCourts in Haarlem

At the Cruyff Court in Haarlem East at Leonard Springerlaan, children and young people can participate in a series of sports from 5 to 8 years old, in addition to the existing sports offer, from May 20 free culture lessons Choose from (break)dance, djembe, freestyle football and basketball, rap, graffiti, or photography. Cruyff Courts are safe, familiar meeting places in the neighborhood where children and young people can play sports. Many parents and children find culture abstract and far-fetched. Offering cultural activities at the Cruyff Courts in a series of lessons makes it tangible and accessible. If you enjoy the lessons, continuing is easy. Lessons at the Cruyff Courts are already being taught by cultural providers and community sports coaches in the area. If you can't afford follow-up lessons at home, the Youth Fund for Sports & Culture will contribute. Read the information here.

We've started and you can still register!

The Haarlem kick-off on May 20th was organized by Triple Threat and opened by Alderman for Culture Marie-Therese Meijs. This was followed by a dazzling breakdance show by Damn Fresh Crew and a Freestyle Football show by Panna Knock Out's Nasser El Jackson, two-time world champion in Ground Moves. The first Freestyle Football and Basketball lessons immediately began, and young people were given a preview of various other lessons. They participated immediately! This week (May 20th), the first lessons will start at:

Cruyff Court Parkwijk, on Leonard Springerlaan.

Wednesday at 2.30 pm Breakdance, Urban Dance and Djembé
Wednesday at 3pm Photography

Ambition
Enrico Lacruz is brimming with ambition, yet he has achieved everything he said and aspired to. At school, Enrico Lacruz said he wanted to be an Olympic boxer and knew he'd have to give up many things to achieve it. A few years later, as a 23-year-old boxer in 2016 in Rio de Janeiro, he became the first Dutch boxer since 1992 to compete in the Olympic Games. His next goal? To reach the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo and become the best in the world!

Achievements
Enrico has been the Dutch champion in his weight class for seven years now and has won several international boxing tournaments. He primarily made his name with a 2017 victory over three-time world champion and two-time Olympic champion Lazaro Alvarez Estrada. He then won the Gee Bee tournament in Finland in 2018 and was voted the tournament's most technical boxer.

Ambassador
Enrico has recently become an ambassador for the Gelderland Youth Fund for Sports and Culture. Lacruz understands the importance of sports and is passionate about supporting them. "I love getting young people involved in self-defense sports. Playing sports, making music, or dancing is important for young people, and I'm eager to contribute to this!"

Shanice van de Sanden, ambassador Youth Fund Sports & Culture II

Shanice van de Sanden is a striker for the Dutch women's national team, European Champion, player for Liverpool FC Women and ambassador for the Youth Fund for Sport & Culture.

Just kicking a ball can make you so happy. You don't even have to say anything. In sports, everyone understands you. Someone starts laughing, others are simply infected by that laughter. You learn how to lose, and how to cope with it. You learn how to lose together, how to win together, how to achieve a goal. That's all so valuable.

As a child, I never dreamed I'd achieve this. I didn't even know there was such a thing as the Women's Champions League, and I had no role models of female footballers I thought: that's what I want to be. I just wanted to be good "when I grow up." And now I'm someone girls dream about, someone they think: that's what I want to be! I don't fully grasp that.

When I'm on the training field, I'm happy. Still, every day. I've been able to turn my hobby into my job. That round ball has taken me everywhere, all over the world. From South Africa to Miami. You learn so much from it as a person. I've come a long way.

Children should be able to develop themselves as people. That's very important. And that's why they should have the opportunity to play sports, even if their parents don't have money."
