Although the number of registrations for sports activities has returned to pre-coronavirus levels, we see that registrations for cultural activities, such as music lessons, are lagging behind.1 BMC's findings show that financial barriers still play a significant role, especially in music lessons, where the personal contribution is too high for many families. To lower these barriers and give more children the opportunity to participate in music lessons, we have launched a pilot program in collaboration with the Municipality of Amsterdam with nine music providers, temporarily increasing the maximum reimbursement.
The pilot program is only valid for applications submitted to the Youth Fund for Sport & Culture Amsterdam and to the 10 selected providers (see "Participating Music Providers" below). The program runs from August 1, 2023, and has been extended until at least July 31, 2026.
When submitting your application, please enter the maximum amount. If you can enter a maximum of 480, we will manually adjust the application to 650. The provider will only invoice you for the actual costs.
Please note: the increase only applies to music lessons, not to other activities such as dance.
Don't have a City Pass? Ask for help applying. For example, from your school teacher, a neighborhood team member, a neighborhood sports coach, or SINA Foundation.
With this pilot program, we hope to give more children in Amsterdam the opportunity to take music lessons without financial barriers. For questions or more information, please contact us at 06 – 21 37 31 96 or amsterdam@jeugdfondssportencultuur.nl

Kijk, leer & geef een kind een heel jaar lang Sport- & Cultuurplezier…
Succes!
We're all facing it: high inflation and skyrocketing energy prices. The NOC*NSF conducted a study on the effect of this on sports participation. And what did it reveal? Rising energy prices have made sports too expensive for some Dutch people. About a fifth of the sports-loving population, faced with the associated price increases, has reduced their participation in sports or stopped altogether.Source: Nos.nl).
Currently, more than 1 million people in the Netherlands cannot afford sports or cultural hobbies. That's a staggering 61% of all Dutch people (Source: Poverty and Social Exclusion 2021, Statistics Netherlands). As a result of the coronavirus crisis, more people than ever before have fallen into poverty. The current energy crisis and high inflation are causing even more people to face financial difficulties. For these people, participation in sports or cultural activities is often one of the first things to be cut. Yet, it's crucial that they too can continue to participate. Participating in sports or cultural activities contributes significantly to their development. It creates a positive feeling and increases self-confidence, provides enjoyment, and prevents social exclusion.
This expands the Youth Fund's target group. We're seeing this reflected in the growing number of applications submitted to us. So far in 2022, we've approved over 3,500 applications in North Holland, with September seeing the highest number ever. Families who were previously able to pay their dues are now unable to do so. It's good to know that the Youth Fund is also there for children from these families. Because no child should be left behind.

Great news! The Youth Fund Sports & Culture contributions for children and young people with a Haarlem Pass are increasing for 2022! Children with a Zandvoort Pass are also welcome to participate for the time being.
The Youth Sports & Culture Fund wants all children to stay active, healthy, and happy. That's why we're paying this year for children and young people from families with a Haarlem or Zandvoort Pass (and sometimes without one). more tuition fees to join a sports and cultural club.

Step 1:
Find out which club or instructor your child wants to take lessons with, whether there is room for him/her and how much it costs.
Step 2:
Ask the teacher at school, someone from the social neighborhood team or another organization from our intermediary list to apply for your child. They are Youth Fund intermediaries and will do this together with you on the computer. The information they need is stated in this Parent card.
Step 3:
Once approved by the Youth Fund, you can register your child at the club. The Youth Fund pays the tuition directly to the club or instructor. Don't forget to reapply every year.
Take advantage of this year's campaign and submit your applications. Or share this, because together we can give many more children opportunities!
Also check in advance all other game rules after.
