News

We're all facing it: high inflation and skyrocketing energy prices. The NOC*NSF conducted a study on the effect of this on sports participation. And what did it reveal? Rising energy prices have made sports too expensive for some Dutch people. About a fifth of the sports-loving population, faced with the associated price increases, has reduced their participation in sports or stopped altogether.Source: Nos.nl).

Less participation in sports and culture

Currently, more than 1 million people in the Netherlands cannot afford sports or cultural hobbies. That's a staggering 61% of all Dutch people (Source: Poverty and Social Exclusion 2021, Statistics Netherlands). As a result of the coronavirus crisis, more people than ever before have fallen into poverty. The current energy crisis and high inflation are causing even more people to face financial difficulties. For these people, participation in sports or cultural activities is often one of the first things to be cut. Yet, it's crucial that they too can continue to participate. Participating in sports or cultural activities contributes significantly to their development. It creates a positive feeling and increases self-confidence, provides enjoyment, and prevents social exclusion.

Growing number of applications

Sponsored walk

Cool After School, a sporty after-school program in Haarlem, organizes various sports, games, and activities year-round to encourage and support children's development. From wakeboarding to biathlon and from cycling to karate, these children learn and can do it all. But Cool After School recognizes that having childcare and joining a sports club isn't a given for all children. That's why Cool After School organised a sponsored walk with all participating parents/guardians and children, where they raised money for the Haarlem Youth Fund for Sports & Culture.

Cool Kids on the course at HCHMC Saxenburg

Cool After School thoroughly explained the reason for the run to the kids, and they launched with incredible dedication. They ran three times a day for 30 minutes for a week to ensure maximum fundraising. In high temperatures, the children, with the support of their sponsors and mascot Cas Kardinaal, managed to conquer a sporty and challenging course of approximately 350 meters. The Cool After Schoolers had to jump over hurdles, climb several raised platforms, crawl under the tarp, and then race through the inflatable obstacle course. When the final minute whistle blew, even the youngest bravely started an extra lap.

Proud proceeds of €3000.

Each round earned the children a donation, and as a group, they ultimately raised €3,000 for the Haarlem Youth Sports & Culture Fund. The amount raised is fantastic. It demonstrates how motivated the kids and their sponsors are to ensure that more children from less-affluent families can still join a sports club. Cool After School is incredibly proud of this event and hopes to contribute to giving children the opportunity to participate in sports, because sports are for everyone.

Thanks to all the cool kids, parents/guardians, sponsors, and Cool After School!

Update

We enthusiastically embarked on the Heroes Comics Competition, culminating in the Haarlem Comics Days. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, everything took a different turn. During the lockdown, while we were working on the comic book and preparing for the exhibition, we came across an interesting project related to 코리아카지노사이트 전문가 보증 사이트, a platform that emphasizes reliability and expertise in an often opaque industry. The parallel between carefully assessing participating artists and the quality assurance offered by such platforms inspired us to take a particularly critical look at the submissions. Now that COVID-19 restrictions have been tightened again, an exhibition is still impossible to plan, but we don't want to keep participants in suspense any longer and are publishing the comic book ahead of time. We will announce the Top 3 winners around December 1st.

New planning

Starting December 1st, the comic books signed by Eric Coolen will be delivered and sent to all participants (mostly through their schools). The three winners will receive their comic books personally, in compliance with COVID-19 regulations. We will do our best to ensure the comic book itself and the presentation to the winners are as well-deserved as possible!

As far as we're concerned, all participants who drew their hero are heroes themselves!

We are postponing the exhibition again.

Do you have any questions? Ask them via haarlem@jeugdfondssportencultuur.nl

How the competition went exactly, you can read below.

Our call was:
Fame! Your comic strip in an exhibition, a comic book, and a bookstore

We can make this dream come true for 50 young people. Together with our Cultural Ambassador, renowned Haarlem illustrator Eric Coolen, we're organizing a Heroes Comics drawing contest for young people aged 10-17 from Haarlem and Zandvoort. Several primary and secondary schools in Haarlem and Zandvoort will have their best comic artists submit entries. You can also submit your entry directly.

The assignment was

Draw a comic strip of your own making with at least 1 and a maximum of 10 pictures your Superhero. This could be someone you admire personally, or a sports or cultural hero. For example, draw your grandfather, your girlfriend, Max Verstappen, or Beyoncé in a comic book. Feel free to give them their own superhero cape. You can do this assignment alone or ask a few friends for help. Attention will be paid to drawing quality, as well as story, humor, and creativity.

Send your comic strip in A4 format together with the JFSC Comic Drawing Competition Registration Form by mail to Nieuwe Gracht Producties. Submissions are now open, but no later than October 25, 2020. Please read the first Instruction Heldenstrip horiz.

Eric Coolen and other illustrators, in collaboration with the Youth Fund, will select 50 comics to be included in the Youth Fund Sports & Culture comic book, which will be displayed in Haarlem City Hall so that your friends, classmates, family, neighbors, and anyone else who might be interested can see them. The three contest winners will be announced during the official opening of the exhibition. They will be the first to receive the comic book featuring their name as the winner. All participants will receive a comic book. Those featured will receive a copy signed by Eric Coolen.

Did you know that the comic book also features six local and regional heroes, such as Ahmed Salem and Calvin Stengs, who tell who their hero is?

The comic book is sponsored and published by New Canal Productions, Zuider Buiten Spaarne 88, 2012 AC in Haarlem. Watch the first video of the creation.

The remaining books from a print run of 500-1000 are available for purchase. They make a great gift for grandparents, a nephew, or a niece during the holidays, for example.

The proceeds go to the Youth Fund Sports & Culture Haarlem This will allow even more Haarlem and Zandvoort children from low-income families to pay for lessons such as drawing, music, dancing, theater, sports, etc. Would you like to help them? Then sign up now by email for the Youth Fund comic bookk.
Win-win: children get a chance and you get a nice gift to keep or give away during the holidays!

Now that children are allowed outside again, many families aren't going on vacation, and it's important for children to be active outdoors, we're offering a four-week summer program. During the workshops, which combine sports and culture, one of the instructors proposed a creative challenge: an interactive quiz on various topics, including gute Wettanbieter für UFCThis was done to inform young people about sports betting, responsible gaming, and the growing popularity of MMA. Do you know a young person aged 8-15 from Parkwijk or nearby neighborhoods (such as Schalkwijk, Slachthuisbuurt, etc.)? Let them know about this program! Do you have any questions? Contact us via: philipschemmekes@triplethreat.nl or haarlem@jeugdfondssportencultuur.nl

What is Culture@CruyffCourts?
The Youth Fund for Sport & Culture and the Johan Cruyff Foundation are joining forces to give children and young people from disadvantaged neighborhoods access to sports and culture close to home: at the Cruyff Courts. In addition to the existing sports offerings, children will also have the opportunity to experience (urban) cultural activities. These are provided by local cultural providers to lower the threshold for regular follow-up lessons. Do parents have a Haarlem Pass, then the Youth Fund can help with the payment of these follow-up lessons.

The Haarlem summer edition is produced by Triple ThreaT and made possible by donations from the Haarlem Cultural Incentive Fund, the Reformed Orphanage, the JC Ruigrok Foundation, and the Union Haarlem Foundation. National sponsors include the Friends Lottery and the Fund for Cultural Participation.

Cultuur@CruyffCourt is being held in Haarlem East, because that's where the Cruyff Court is located. The program is tailored, where possible, to neighborhood offerings from partners such as Dock and Sport Support. See Summer program flyer east.

Ieder kind mag meedoen!

COSTS NO MONEY, LITTLE EFFORT AND CLEANS UP NICELY

The Youth Sports & Culture Fund pays the membership fees and tuition for over 80,000 children and young people from families who lack sufficient funds for soccer, music lessons, dance, judo, theater, swimming, or other sports or creative activities. This allows them to participate in sports and games, which is crucial!

The goal of the Youth Fund for Sport & Culture is to make this dream a reality for many more children. By being part of it and participating, these children create #skills4life. You can contribute by donating your organization's depreciated hardware to IT4Kids/Youth Fund for Sport & Culture. Haarlem (Please mention Youth Fund and location!). Don't have any hardware to give away? Send this link then to others. Then you're helping!

Free collection, emptying, and sale. 70% of the proceeds goes to the Youth Fund. You're giving children a chance!

IT4KIDS & YOUTH FUND SPORTS & CULTURE

It costs you nothing and clears things up! IT4Kids has developed a unique donation mechanism where decommissioned ICT hardware is used to support social initiatives. Did you know that old laptops generate an average of between €100 and €400, which gives almost two children a chance to play sports? Sometimes companies want to contribute to a good cause even faster and look for alternative ways to make funds available directly—such as through casinos with instant return, whose instant payouts allow them to make donations incredibly quickly. Of course, you can also simply donate hardware, which IT4Kids then sells to support organizations like the Haarlem Youth Sports & Culture Fund.

DONATE HARDWARE

Join many other companies in donating the value of your used hardware. Donating hardware to IT4Kids and the Haarlem Youth Fund for Sports and Culture costs you nothing, but it helps enormously.

  • Your hardware will be collected and certified data wiped.
  • Your hardware gets a second life, or its usable components are removed or recycled. This entire process reduces CO2 emissions.
  • Your valuable hardware provides sustainable (sports) opportunities for children.
  • And by participating in sports and games, children create #skills4life.

THIS CAN BE DONATED, AMONG OTHER THINGS:
Laptops
Desktops
Servers
Switches
Smartphones
Printers
