Ambassador Guus Tangelder: “Music is daily happiness”

At a young age, clarinetist and saxophonist Guus Tangelder joined the local brass band. From there, he became a sought-after big band player and leader, winning several awards. "These days, it's no longer a given that you go to a brass band or music school; many organizations have closed down. That's why it's especially important that we, through JFSC, connect children with culture and provide financial support where needed."

"Music is my daily happiness. I always say that once you start playing music, you have a lifelong passion," laughs Guus. "You always pick up that instrument again, and I notice that with my students too. Sometimes they stop because of busy studies, but then I see them again later." He enjoys the effect music has on people. "That they feel good when they're making music on an evening like that. People leave a rehearsal more relaxed than when they arrive. The beauty of playing together in orchestras is also the social aspect. Everyone invests in each other and wants to improve together."

Schools and municipalities are the key

As an ambassador, Guus wants more people to know that JFSC also offers cultural opportunities. “Investing in knowledge in schools and municipalities is therefore important. Teachers and government officials can point parents and children to this. I enjoy giving living room concerts, a wonderful way to raise money for this charity. But that only reaches people who are already interested in music. I want to show others that they can play music, even if there's no money at home. I enjoy meeting with teachers and government officials to find the best way to do that together.”

Challenging youth

Guus has always tried to convey his love of music to young people. By leading youth orchestras, teaching, and organizing performances where young musicians perform alongside professional big bands. He was even knighted in the Order of Orange-Nassau for this. "You have to combine seriousness and enjoyment to get results. A group of young musicians like this gets one or two workshops and then has to practice hard together. But they're working towards a special performance. That challenge energizes everyone!"

Ambassadors can inspire

The musician believes that culture should be as accessible as possible. "If you see examples of people involved in culture in your own town or city, that really drives things forward. That's why it would be great if there were more JFSC ambassadors for culture. Because theater or drawing are very different from music. Fortunately, I'm sure I'm not unique; there are many passionate culture lovers in Gelderland. I'd say, join me in making sure even more children enjoy culture!"

Ambassadeur Henk Lubberding
Henk Lubberding staat bij velen op het netvlies als de hard werkende meesterknecht, die kilometers lang op kop reed. In een razend tempo op weg naar de finish, rijdend voor zijn ploegmaten. Zijn lijst van persoonlijke prestaties is niet minder indrukwekkend. Hij werd namelijk tweemaal Nederlands kampioen en won de klassieker Gent-Wevelgem. Maar liefs dertien keer reed hij de Tour de France, waarin hij drie etappe-overwinningen boekte, de witte trui won, in het geel reed én driemaal bij de eerste tien in het eindklassement eindigde.

Kapitein
Tijdens zijn wielerloopbaan werkte Henk zich op tot wegkapitein. Dit hield in dat hij de renners motiveerde en stuurde, vooral daar waar stagnatie optrad. Henk heeft maar liefs 28 jaar gekoerst (van zijn 11e t/m zijn 39e!!). Op diverse gebieden was hij trendsetter. Denk maar eens aan zijn wapperende manen en de karakteristieke haarband!! Na zijn lange wielerloopbaan startte hij het bedrijf ‘Teambuilding met Lubberding’ op wat hij samen met zijn echtgenote Corina runt. Dit evenementenbureau draait inmiddels al sinds 1996 zeer succesvol. Als trendsetter onder de ex-topsporters organiseert hij o.a. fietsclinics , teambuilding voor bedrijven en organisaties.

Wat Henk mensen leert komt niet uit een boekje of van een cursus, het is zijn pure ervaring die hij met anderen deelt. Henk is geen copycat. Op sportgebied is Henk nog steeds actief. Op zijn website is daar meer informatie over te vinden. En hij is als ambassadeur betrokken bij het Jeugdfonds Sport & Cultuur.
