Youth Fund Volunteer Day at the Games: 750 kids in action!

On Thursday, June 20, the Youth Fund Volunteer Day took place during the Games at the Olympic Stadium in Amsterdam. Over 750 children from grades 7 and 8 from schools in Amsterdam and the surrounding area participated.

Together with nearly 100 volunteers from the Youth Fund's corporate partners, we had a fantastic day. We saw and experienced the power that sports and exercise have on children. It was an energetic day, which you can watch here in the aftermovie:

The day started early: at 7:30 a.m., the first volunteers arrived, full of energy to make it a great day. The day was officially opened by the children entering the Olympic Stadium with a flag parade. After this ceremony, ambassador Shaker The volunteers and children symbolically lit the Olympic flame and participated in an energetic warm-up. Shaker's words: "Everyone get active!"

Discovering hidden talents

After the energetic opening, the sports activities began, where children could discover no fewer than eight different sports, including sumo wrestling, athletics, and Afrodancing. Throughout the day, we heard stories that underscored the day's success: children proudly telling the volunteers they could jump two meters in athletics and raving about their first BMX experience.

At the end of the day, ambassador Redo An inspiring closing ceremony with his message: "No excuses, no limits." With his story, he motivated the children to pursue their dreams in their own unique way. With this message, they went home inspired by the guard of honor, receiving high fives.
