Youth Sports Fund new charity of the Echo Mini Marathons during the TCS Amsterdam Marathon
– More children in motion –
Starting this year, the Jeugdfonds Sport Amsterdam (Youth Sports Fund Amsterdam) will be the charity for the various Echo Mini Marathons during the TCS Amsterdam Marathon. The Jeugdfonds Sport makes sports possible for children aged 2 to 17 who grow up in families with limited financial resources. For these children, the fund pays the membership fees of sports clubs and swimming clubs, and provides clothing and equipment. All proceeds from the Echo Mini Marathons will go to the Jeugdfonds Sport.
During the TCS Amsterdam Marathon on Sunday, October 20th, there will be several events for children. For example, children aged 2 to 12 can participate in one of the Echo Mini Marathons along the course. These popular 1-kilometer Echo Mini Marathons are organized in collaboration with the Municipality of Amsterdam for children from the neighborhood. Rene Wit, race director of the TCS Amsterdam Marathon: "We are very pleased with our partnership. This way, we can ensure that children in Amsterdam who are less well-off can also participate in sports." Kim Stoutenbeek of Jeugdfonds Sport Amsterdam is also looking forward to the collaboration: "Jeugdfonds Sport is happy to collaborate with LeChampion to get even more children in Amsterdam moving."
Children aged 12 and under can participate in these kilometer runs at three different locations: in the South district: De Borcht (below Amstelpark), in the East district: at Galileïplantsoen, and in the South district at Olympiaplein. Participating in the Echo Mini Marathon also means cheering on the top Dutch and international runners of the TCS Amsterdam Marathon afterward. In addition, all three locations offer various activities for children, including bouncy castles, music, an athletics competition, and a raffle with great prizes.
Registration for one of the Echo Mini Marathons is open online for all locations until October 18th. Late registration on the day is possible in the East and South districts. For more information, visitwww.tcsamsterdammarathon.nl/deelnemers/kinderlopen/.
