Rotary Assen supports the Drenthe Youth Fund for Sports & Culture

80 years of Rotary Assen

Rotary Club Assen is celebrating its 80th anniversary this year. The club is celebrating its anniversary with various activities. Proceeds from these activities will go to the Drenthe Youth Sports & Culture Fund. Rotary Assen believes it's important that every child has access to sports or music.

Assen
Rotary Assen is an active service club for men and women from diverse backgrounds and professions. They are socially engaged, offer a helping hand, and raise funds for charities. They offer services ranging from refugee aid to holiday fun for children who otherwise wouldn't be able to go on holiday. They also provide services ranging from global polio control to supporting young caregivers.

Presentation of Check

Chair Yvonne Dijstelbloem presented a check for €2,000 to Gerda Sennema of the Youth Fund. The event took place during a live broadcast by Omroep Assen from the pop-up radio station on Oudestraat. This amount allows eight children to participate in sports for a year, or five children to participate in music lessons for a year. This way, every child can participate.
The Youth Fund for Sports & Culture is available for children who don't have enough money at home to participate in sports, music lessons, street dance, painting, or theater. They pay the membership fees or tuition fees for children and young people, and possibly items such as sportswear, dancing shoes, or instrument rental. How it works: An intermediary is needed to submit the application. This could be a teacher, a neighborhood sports coach, a cultural coach, a debt counselor, a youth worker, a volunteer from the Stichting Leergeld (Education Fund Foundation), or a neighborhood social team. Once the application is submitted, the child can often participate in sports or lessons within three weeks. The membership fees or tuition are paid directly to the club or institution where the child takes lessons.
