More additional forces in Meierijstad and Bernheze
On Tuesday, June 17, around 50 people gathered at the town hall in Veghel for a special afternoon for Meerkrachten (intermediaries) who are or want to become active for the Jeugdfonds Sport & Cultuur Brabant (Youth Fund for Sports & Culture Brabant) in the municipalities of Meierijstad and Bernheze.
The goal of the meeting was to share information about the Youth Fund and other municipal programs, connect, inspire, and recruit. More than half of the attendees were not yet Meerkracht members, but through their work in education, healthcare, and municipalities, they could play an important role in (even more) helping children and young people growing up in poverty.
Barbara Brouwer, account manager for the Youth Fund in Meierijstad, and coordinator Peter Overeem shared enthusiastic stories about the importance of sports and cultural participation, the importance and strength of Meerkrachten, and explained how easy it is to apply for club participation.
They said, among other things, that a Meerkracht:
- must be professionally involved in the upbringing, guidance or education of the child or young person;
- must be (generally) aware of the family's financial situation;
- and must have knowledge of the local rules of the Brabant Youth Fund for Sports & Culture.
When asked who among those present was interested in becoming Meerkracht, several hands went up.
