HockeyWerkt involved in resilience training in Den Bosch
For several years now, HockeyWerkt has been a partner of the 's-Hertogenbosch-Vught Youth Fund for Sports and Culture. HockeyWerkt provides hockey clubs with professional coaches and qualified staff. The Den Bosch-based company also organizes staff for after-school care organizations. HockeyWerkt also provides training and activities for anyone who can't get enough of hockey, including gnome hockey for the very youngest.
This year, HockeyWerkt is also involved in resilience training for children in Den Bosch. Koen Brok of HockeyWerkt: "These training sessions for 4- to 9-year-olds focus on strengthening self-confidence, social skills, and motor skills. The goal is also to get children moving for an hour every day and to participate in muscle- and bone-strengthening activities weekly. This is in line with the exercise guidelines of the Knowledge Center for Sports and Exercise."
Club Up at BBS De Kruiskamp
This year, resilience training is also being offered at Klup Up at BBS De Kruiskamp. They'll be using the "Rock & Water" concept, a proven resilience training program that helps children boost their self-confidence and improve their social skills in a playful way. The training at Klup Up is led by Nikki Verschuuren of HockeyWerkt. He's a certified teacher and teaches this training to children in grades 1, 2, and 3, 4.
In organizing and offering resilience training in Den Bosch, HockeyWerkt collaborates with BSO-werkt, S-PORT and NVBT.
Plans for 2025
HockeyWerkt has ambitious plans for 2025 to further increase its impact on young people in 's-Hertogenbosch. Director Bowie van der Schoot explains: "We're launching Klup Up Nieuw Zuid Mini Movers, the same concept as Klup Up Kruiskamp, but with a focus on gnome gymnastics. This program specifically targets children aged 3.5 to 6 and offers a playful introduction to exercise and sports. The goal is to encourage a love of exercise at a young age and thus lay the foundation for an active lifestyle." These plans are being developed and implemented in collaboration with S-PORT and Gijs Boeren, a gym teacher at the Westerbreedte Children's Center.
In addition, HockeyWerkt will provide training for high school students in collaboration with Van Maerlant College. "We're excited to expand our expertise to secondary education," says Boeren. "By offering sports training at Van Maerlant College, we want to contribute to the physical development of young people and motivate them to adopt a healthy and active lifestyle."
With these new initiatives, HockeyWerkt is committed to reaching even more children and young people and allowing them to experience the benefits of sports and exercise. The collaboration with schools and local organizations underscores HockeyWerkt's commitment to the community in 's-Hertogenbosch.
