Hengelo Municipal Choir donates its cash contents to the Hengelo-Borne Youth Fund

After more than 90 years, the Stedelijk Koor Hengelo has formally dissolved its association. This decision came with sadness, but also with a special gesture: the remaining funds of €1,534.10 were donated to the Jeugdfonds Sport & Cultuur Hengelo-Borne (Youth Fund for Sports & Culture Hengelo-Borne).

This donation enables our fund to give even more children from families with limited financial resources the opportunity to participate in music, sports, or other creative activities. Because participation isn't something every child takes for granted—but it is essential for their development.

A meaningful farewell

The Stedelijk Koor, founded in 1932, became a household name in Hengelo. For years, the choir brought music to the city, performing light classical works and Dutch-language repertoire. Due to an aging population and a lack of new talent, it eventually closed.

We are deeply touched that the choir has chosen to use its legacy to create new musical opportunities. Their contribution is more than a donation: it's an investment in the future of children who would otherwise be marginalized.

As an independent foundation, we are entirely dependent on gifts and donations. We are therefore immensely grateful for this final act, which will resonate – albeit quietly – in the region for a long time to come.
