In 2021, 2,441 children in the province of Groningen were able to play football, judo, gymnastics, or participate in another favorite sport. In addition, 499 children were able to dance, make music, act, or participate in another fun cultural activity. A total of 2,940 children and young people were able to participate in sports and/or cultural lessons. Unfortunately, this was slightly fewer children than the previous year and is likely due to the fact that many sports and cultural activities were put on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic.

We couldn't have accomplished this without the help and dedication of our grant providers, sponsors, and donors. We also couldn't do it without our hundreds of intermediaries who are our eyes and ears in the neighborhood and municipality. They see families who don't have enough money to participate and, through an application, ensure they can become members of a sports club or cultural provider. So, to our sponsors, donors, collaborating funds, the provincial and municipal authorities, volunteers, teachers, youth care workers, neighborhood teams, and all the professionals involved, thank you so much!

Unfortunately, we don't yet reach all children. A large number of families in the Netherlands still live in poverty. This still involves a large number of children who struggle or are unable to participate. Every day, we strive to make a difference for these children. However, we can't do this alone, so we will increasingly seek collaboration. Because every child deserves to be able to participate!
