Collaboration extended between the municipality of Noardeast-Fryslân, the Leergeld Foundation and the Youth Fund for Sports & Culture

Applications to the Leergeld Foundation and the Youth Fund Sports & Culture have increased recently. Therefore, the municipality of Noardeast-Fryslân decided to make an additional contribution at the end of last year. Both organizations can thus meet a significant need. The municipality will therefore continue the collaboration for the next four years.
School supplies, sports, music, swimming lessons, or celebrating a birthday—it seems normal for all children in the Netherlands, but not every parent can afford these things. Parents with low incomes or debts can apply to the Stichting Leergeld Foundation and the Jeugdfonds Sport & Cultuur (Youth Fund for Sports and Culture) for these expenses.
“The foundation Leergeld and it Jeugdfûns foarsjogge yn in grut ferlet,” is how councilor Jouke Douwe de Vries underlines the importance of the collaboration. “Mei harren stipe soargje we ensure that all bern and our municipality can participate in activities inside and outside school; ek as harren âlden âlden have less to go on hawwe.”

The Leergeld Foundation and the Youth Fund for Sport & Culture remove the financial barriers for parents to allow their children to participate. "Every child should be able to participate. But if money is a problem in the family, we're happy to help. We cover the bill for memberships, clothing, or materials. That's why we encourage parents, caregivers, and social networks: take advantage of our fund! It gives a child more fun, more self-confidence, and a better chance of making friends," says Wytze Visser, board member of the Youth Fund for Sport & Culture Friesland.
Through the portal of www.samenvoorallekinderen.nl Parents and intermediaries can submit an application for their child(ren) up to 17 years old. The foundations review the application and pay the compensation directly to the provider (for example, the swimming pool or the football club).
