Collaboration between Heiloo and the Youth Fund for Sports and Culture
On Thursday, April 19, at 7:00 PM, Mayor Hans Romeyn officially launched the partnership between the municipality of Heiloo and the Youth Fund for Sport and Culture North Holland at the Cultuurkoepel in Heiloo. A musical launch, as the mayor heralded the collaboration during the opening of "Muziekmakkers" (Music Buddies). Last year, the Heiloo municipal executive decided to collaborate with the Youth Fund for Sport and Culture for the period 2017-2020 to combat child poverty.
Tamara Roos of the Youth Fund for Sports and Culture also received a check for €5,000 on the spot from Theo Groot, financial advisory manager at Rabobank Noord-Kennemerland, who is pleased with this collaboration. The check was presented on behalf of the Rabobank Foundation. "Muziekmakkers," a free musical get-together for children in Heiloo, will also mark the start of the "Music Meeting Heiloo" event, which will take place the weekend of April 21st and 22nd at the Cultuurkoepel on the Willibrordus Estate in Heiloo. This year's theme for Music Meeting Heiloo is "Children and Music."
Children from low-income families can participate. Through a partnership with the Youth Fund for Sports and Culture, children from low-income families in the municipality of Heiloo can participate in sports and cultural activities. Playing sports or engaging in creative activities promotes children's development and reduces the risk of social exclusion. The Youth Fund creates opportunities for children aged 4 to 18 who, for financial reasons, cannot join a sports club or cultural association. The fund pays the membership fees and equipment for children from families living on benefits, in debt restructuring, or with an income below the social minimum.
Only intermediaries can register children with the Youth Fund for Sport and Culture. Intermediaries are professionals from the healthcare and welfare sector, such as general practitioners, youth care professionals, social workers, but also teachers from education or community sports coaches. They are familiar with the child's home situation and can submit an application through the fund's website. For more information, residents and intermediaries can visit www.jeugdfondssportencultuur.nl.
Financial resources for the funds
Local support is crucial for the youth fund's success. The support of municipalities and businesses is essential. The Rabobank Foundation, the national social fund of all Rabobanks, supports the Youth Fund for Sports and Culture's mission to encourage more municipalities to join the Youth Fund. The Rabobank Foundation is providing a start-up contribution for this purpose. In addition, the municipality has allocated funding from its budget for three years.
