Utrecht Youth Fund Sports & Culture Annual Report 2023
In 2023, 5,651 children and young people found their way to football clubs, dance schools, swimming lessons, judo lessons, music lessons, and kickboxing schools through the Utrecht Youth Fund for Sports & Culture.
Poverty is a structural and persistent problem in our prosperous country. According to the CPB (Netherlands Bureau for Economic Policy Analysis), 6.21 percent of children grew up in poverty in 2023. That's an average of 2 to 3 children in every classroom.
To help these children, we collaborate with approximately 600 professionals in the province of Utrecht (including teachers, debt counselors, and community sports coaches) who work with families facing financial difficulties. They identify families who could benefit from our assistance, initiate a conversation, and then submit a request. A growing number of parents are also finding their own way to our services.
The neighborhood in
More than 400 children and young people in the province of Utrecht participated in one of our projects in their own neighborhoods. They were introduced to culture through Cultuur@CruyffCourts and/or practiced their football skills during Panna Knock Out.
Sportswear and dancing shoes
2,197 vouchers were also distributed to families for club supplies, such as a judo suit, ballet shoes, or the rental of a musical instrument.
In action!
Many people took action for the Utrecht Youth Sports & Culture Fund and made a donation to our fund. Thanks to all campaign starters and donors for these wonderful contributions which allow us to help even more children.
