A bicycle for every child

Last summer, the Deel en Geef Door Foundation raised a fantastic amount of money during the Heerlijckheid Middachten wine festival. The Foundation donated this amount to the Gelderland Youth Fund for Sports and Culture. This allowed us to purchase a large number of bicycles.

With the proceeds, the Youth Fund for Sports and Culture, together with the municipality of Rheden, has launched the 'A bicycle for everyone' campaign this sports summer. was set up. This has provided over 60 children, whose parents/guardians lack financial resources, with the joy of receiving a bicycle.

New bicycles

With the help of the Rheden Sports team, the new Decathlon bicycles were distributed to children in the villages of Velp, Dieren, and Spankeren at various primary schools. The first bicycles were delivered to De Kameleon primary school in Velp on June 17th. School principal Manouk van 't Wel accepted the first bicycle from Grace Roetert, board member of the Youth Fund.

To be able to participate

The Gelderland Youth Fund for Sport & Culture is thrilled with the generous donation raised by the Share and Pass Foundation. Unfortunately, not every child can afford a bicycle. Not every parent can afford one for their child. Especially these days, with the coronavirus crisis and now inflation, more and more children need help. And the Youth Fund offers that help.

Councillor Gea Hofstede: “Owning a bike seems so normal, but it's essential for participating, for cycling to your friends' houses or to your sports club. It's wonderful that together we've been able to bring joy to so many children in our community, and that they can now fully enjoy their new bikes this summer..”

The Share and Pass On Foundation aims to connect businesses, educational institutions, and local government. They exchange knowledge and expertise with the goal of supporting needy groups within the municipality of Rheden (in the broadest sense of the word) wherever possible and necessary.

It Youth Fund Sports & Culture enables children up to the age of 18 from financially disadvantaged families to participate in sports at a club or cultural activity, such as music lessons, theater activities, or painting.

Leergeld Foundation offers children the opportunity to participate in both in-school and out-of-school activities. They do this in four different areas: education, sports, culture, and well-being.

The Youth Sports & Culture Fund and the Leergeld Foundation work together to ensure all children participate. They contribute not only to sports and culture, but also to school supplies, a bicycle, and a laptop.

The Sport in Rheden team provides cycling lessons at various squares and schools in the municipality. The team also organizes cycling activities during and around the National Cycling Championships this Sunday. See Instagram. @sportinrheden.
