General questions

What is the Jeugdfonds?

The Youth Sports & Culture Fund enables children and young people from low-income families to participate in football, music lessons, gymnastics, street dance, judo, theater classes, or other sporting or creative activities.

For these children and young people we pay the membership fee/tuition fee and sometimes also if items are needed such as football clothing, dancing shoes or an instrument.

With our help, children can participate in the club for a year.

Who is the Jeugdfonds for?

For children and young people up to 18 years old from families with insufficient funds for sports or cultural activities. For example, families with a minimum income, receiving benefits, or insufficient income from self-employment.

Which activities fall under sport and which under culture?

Examples of sports are football, swimming, fitness, (kick)boxing, judo, athletics, gymnastics, tennis, hockey, korfball, volleyball or basketball.

Culture, for example, is music lessons, dancing, theatre, painting, singing lessons or ballet.

Is the Youth Fund organised nationally or locally?

We are a national organization with local chapters. Applications are processed through a fund in your area.

About submitting an application

Who can apply?

An application is submitted by a professional involved in raising children/young people, such as a teacher, neighborhood sports coach, or social worker.

What is the application process step by step?

Would you like us to pay for your child's club? You can do two things:

 

  1. Go to kieseenclub.nl and fill out the form.
    Your application will be linked to a professional in your area. They will contact you to review the application and forward it to your local Youth Fund. The Youth Fund will review the application and let you know if it's approved. If so, you can register your child directly at the club. We'll pay the club directly.
  1. Or ask for help in submitting an application.
    For example, to the teacher, or someone else who helps you with financial matters
    Then the application proceeds as above.

 

Do I need proof of income?

No, you don't need proof of income. We do need to know what kind of income you receive, for example, whether you're employed, receiving benefits, or are self-employed. Knowing this allows us to help you faster and more effectively.

How high can my income be?

This varies per municipality. Go to kieseenclub.nl and do the check or find a fund near you.

Can I register multiple children from the same family?

Yes, that's possible. A separate application is submitted for each child.

Can I apply for multiple activities at once?

Sometimes yes, but often there is a maximum. This varies by municipality. Go to kieseenclub.nl and do the check or find a fund near you.

Do I have to reapply every year?

Yes, an application must be submitted annually. Applications are submitted for each sports or cultural year. Your child can participate in the club for one year.

What does the Youth Fund pay?

This varies per municipality, but we usually pay a large part or all of the membership fee or tuition fee.

Does the Youth Fund also pay for items such as sportswear or a musical instrument?

Yes, we usually also help if items are needed, such as sportswear, dancing shoes, or an instrument. This varies by municipality. Go to kieseenclub.nl and do the check.

How does the Youth Fund pay the membership fee or tuition fee?

We pay the club directly. You don't receive any money.

Are there any costs that I have to pay myself?

Sometimes yes, for example if the contribution is higher than our maximum. Go to kieseenclub.nl and do the check.

For sports and cultural clubs

How do I register my club/association as a provider with the Youth Fund?

We're glad you want to help children from families struggling with finances join your club. Contact a fund near your club or association for more information:

How do I know if a child is participating through the Youth Fund?

We'll notify the provider once an application is approved. You'll then receive an invoice request from us.

How does the club receive the compensation?

We pay directly to the club. If a child becomes a member of your club through us, you will receive an invoice from us.

Practical questions

What if my child wants to stop or change activities halfway through the season?

Always consult with us if your child wants to stop or change activities halfway through. Please contact us for this. the fund near you or the person who helped you submit the application.

What if the contribution is higher than the compensation?

If your child would like to do an activity that costs more than we pay, it is possible to pay the difference yourself.

Can my child also take sports/music lessons with a commercial provider?

That's sometimes possible; we primarily work with clubs and associations. Do you have a specific club or location in mind? Then please contact us. the fund near you.

Are transportation and costs at the club also reimbursed?

No, we only pay for the club and sometimes the items such as football clothing or dancing shoes.

Where does the money come from?
