Sanne Wevers

“Sports opens doors to a child’s future.”

Gymnast Sanne Wevers has been an ambassador since June 2017. "Sport opens doors for a child's future. There are so many valuable life lessons for children in sports."

At the age of six, Sanne and her twin sister Lieke started gymnastics in Oldenzaal. They are now both members of Topsport Noord in Heerenveen. Gymnastics is a true family affair for the Wevers family, as the sisters have always been trained by their father, Vincent Wevers.

Sanne's international breakthrough came in 2008, when she won gold on bars and beam at a World Cup competition in Glasgow. At the 2010 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships, Sanne became the first gymnast to perform a double pirouette with a straight leg raised. This has since been known as the "Weaver's Pirouette."

In 2015, Sanne won bronze on bars at the European Championships and later that year silver on beam at the World Championships. Her performance at the 2016 Olympic Games, where she won the gold medal on beam, was a historic achievement.
