The children's mayor (municipality of Assen), ambassador of the Drenthe Youth Fund for Sports & Culture.
Every year, a children's mayor is appointed. This mayor is elected from among the children's council members by the members themselves. He or she chairs the children's council. The children's council consists of an average of 30 members from all primary schools in Assen.
The children's council members are all in the eighth grade and serve on the children's council for an entire school year. This introduces them to concepts such as municipal council, participation, democracy, and citizenship.
The Children's Mayor has various roles, one of which is ambassador for the Drenthe Youth Fund for Sports and Culture.
