Streepland Wind Farm provides extra space for youth sports
Streepland Wind Farm is investing in the future of young people in Moerdijk and Drimmelen. The first check in the long-term partnership between Streepland Wind Farm and the Brabant Youth Fund for Sport & Culture was presented on Friday, May 30th. The check will provide a boost of nearly €12,000 to local youth sports.
In the province of North Brabant, approximately 40,000 children are unable to participate in sports because they lack the funds at home to pay their sports club dues, for example. A rising trend is evident due to increasing energy poverty..
Streepland Wind Farm has a social fund that supports local initiatives with a social purpose. The Brabant Youth Fund for Sport & Culture has been selected as the long-term partner for this fund, which is funded annually with €0.25 per MWh of sustainable electricity generated.
The Youth Fund pays for membership fees, sportswear, and sports equipment for children from families in Drimmelen and Moerdijk who cannot afford them themselves. Parents and guardians can apply to the fund via kieseenclub.nl.
Streepland Wind Farm recognizes the social value of sports and culture and their positive impact on the development of disadvantaged children and young people. The social fund is one of the financial participation options the wind farm has agreed upon with the local community. The partnership between the wind farm and the Brabant Youth Fund for Sports and Culture will be evaluated in two years. The intention is to support local youth sports for a total of fifteen years.
Streepland Wind Farm was developed by Greenchoice, Meewind, and Windunie.
