86,426 children to the club!

Participating in sports and culture gives children more strength, more fun, and more self-confidence! Through the Youth Sports & Culture Fund, all children and young people have the opportunity to participate. What happened in 2024?

In 2024 we helped 86,426 children. Of these, there were 75.050 for sports and 11.376 for culture. 29.693 We provided them with sportswear, dance clothes or a musical instrument! Also made 13.476 children are introduced to sports and culture through trial lessons in their own neighborhood. We were supported in this by 13.427 Additional staff: professionals involved in raising children – such as teachers and community sports coaches.

Football = favorite

There are many clubs to choose from. From hip-hop to recorder and from football to korfball. Yet football the number one activity for playing and sporting Netherlands.

Highlights 2024

Besides the many children participating in sports, dancing, and singing, there were also plenty of highlights in 2024: sponsored walks, deposit refund campaigns, and new partners. You can find them all below.

Highlights

Suffering for the Youth Fund

The "Ratrace Coast to Coast" in Scotland seemed like a great challenge for Maik and Thijs: 34 kilometers of running, 127 kilometers of cycling, and 1.6 kilometers of kayaking. Shortly after registering, Maik was diagnosed with lymphoma. Nevertheless, they persevered and raised €3,185 for the Youth Fund!

Olympic-sized auction

The TeamNL Auction in December 2024 raised a whopping €26,157! Sifan Hassan's training shirt fetched €1,346, and Pirmin Blaak's hockey stick went for €2,000. At the athletes' request, the proceeds went to the Youth Sports & Culture Fund again this year.

New partner alert!

ABN AMRO became a partner of the Youth Fund in 2024. We launched this collaboration with "Discovery Week," during which over 3,000 children were able to try out sports and cultural activities.

Running in Paris

Suzanne ran the 'Marathon Pour Tous 2024' in Paris. Under the banner 'Olympic Suuz,' she raised €6,821 for us through the Youth Fund Action Platform.

Youth Fund Volunteer Day

In June 2024, the first Youth Fund Volunteer Day took place during "The Games" at the Olympic Stadium. Under the guidance of 100 volunteers from the Youth Fund's corporate partners, 750 children in grades 7 and 8 from schools in Amsterdam and the surrounding area participated in sports and played!

New bus

Our partnership with Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has been strengthened with a brand-new electric ID. Buzz Cargo. Naturally, it features recognizable Youth Fund livery. The bus will be available to us for the next three years.

From intermediary to Meerkracht

In 2024, we officially transitioned from intermediary to "Meerkracht" (More Power). These professionals, such as teachers, neighborhood coaches, and social workers, are incredibly important for children. They ensure they are seen and give them more joy, more energy, more self-confidence, and more creativity. In short: more power!

Piano brothers join

Lucas and Arthur Jussen joined the Youth Fund as ambassadors in 2024: "When you experience different facets of life, such as sports, music, and social contacts, you grow as a person. You get to know the world better."

Deposit refund campaign

In January and February, supermarket chain Dirk encouraged its customers to donate their deposits to the Youth Fund. This raised a whopping €32,681!

Exercise for the Youth Fund

Eleven collaborating Rotary clubs from the Rijnland region and the province of South Holland organized a Sports and Exercise Day in 2024, raising €128,956 for the Youth Fund.

Design football shirts

FC Groningen, in collaboration with the Scapino retail chain, commissioned 11-year-old Ruben to design the "Shirt of Your Dreams." The sale and auction of these limited edition shirts raised €10,000 for the Youth Fund.

Seven Hills Run 2024

During the famous Zevenheuvelenloop in November, over €25,000 was raised for the Youth Fund through sponsorships – including via the Youth Fund Action Platform.

Dance, dance, dance

In May 2024, we launched a brand-new neighborhood project: Let's Dance! Let's Dance gives young people up to 18 the opportunity to express themselves in a dance square in their own neighborhood, under the guidance of a dance instructor. With this project, we especially want to encourage girls to participate in cultural activities.

Youth Fund on the train

The "Limburg for Limburg" Arriva train was unveiled in Limburg, featuring the Youth Fund for Sports and Culture! This initiative, founded in 2018, aims to give more children the opportunity to participate in sports, take music lessons, and visit museums. Arriva, the Youth Fund, and the Leergeld Foundation collaborate closely on this project.

Parent Campaign 2024

In the fall of 2024, the Youth Fund launched another campaign aimed at parents: "Simply Possible." With this campaign, we let parents who are struggling financially (temporarily) know that there are opportunities – even for them! – to allow their children to participate in sports and cultural activities.
