LOOP Leeuwarden raises 2,650 euros for the Youth Fund for Sports & Culture

Last Sunday, during the 15th edition of LOOP Leeuwarden, the Healthy City Leeuwarden Foundation presented a check for €2,650 to the Friesland Youth Fund for Sports and Culture. Herma van Keulen, board member of the Friesland Youth Fund for Sports and Culture, accepted the check from Kees van Anken, chair of the Healthy City Leeuwarden Foundation.

The partnership between LOOP Leeuwarden and the Jeugdfonds Sport & Cultuur Friesland (Frisian Youth Fund for Sports and Culture) was established in 2021 because both organizations share several key goals. The Healthy City Leeuwarden Foundation wants to inspire as many people as possible, young and old, to participate in sports and exercise. This contributes to a healthy society. The Healthy City also aims to make LOOP Leeuwarden accessible to everyone, especially children. Therefore, participation is free for them, and we naturally hope that it will lead to participation in more sports activities and perhaps registrations for sports clubs. But…

In the Netherlands, an average of two to three children per class grow up in families struggling financially. They can't participate in soccer, street dance, athletics, swimming, or music lessons. These children often play sports and play alone. The Youth Fund for Sport & Culture is trying to change this by making the membership fees or tuition available for these children and young people. Sports and play aren't something you do alone; they're something you do together. Every child deserves to participate! And that's where "The Healthy City" and the Youth Fund for Sport & Culture find common ground.

Participants in LOOP Leeuwarden could make a voluntary donation to the Youth Fund for Sports and Culture when registering. Volunteers waived their volunteer allowance and donated it to the Youth Fund for Sports and Culture.

Sam& for all children
The Youth Fund for Sports & Culture Friesland collaborates more broadly with the Leergeld Leeuwarden and surrounding area Foundation under the name Sam& for all children. Through Sam&, parents and intermediaries can also apply for facilities in the areas of sports, culture, education, leisure time, and, for example, birthday celebrations. Applications can be submitted by both parents and intermediaries via the website. www.samenvoorallekinderen.nl.
