Youth Fund Sports & Culture surprises children in Delft
Delft primary schools, clubs, the municipality of Delft, and the Youth Fund for Sports and Culture have launched a major campaign for parents with limited funds. The message is "No money for sports, culture, or swimming lessons? The Youth Fund will pay!" Children at playgrounds will also be surprised with a Youth Fund ball. On Thursday, October 21, 2021, Alderman Karin Schrederhof presented the first balls to children at the Foreestplein Playground in the Voordijkshoorn neighborhood.
Children at the Foreestplein Playground in the Voordijkshoorn neighborhood were overjoyed. Thanks to a campaign by the municipality of Delft, the Youth Fund for Sports & Culture, and the neighborhood sports coaches of Delft for Each Other, they unexpectedly received a Youth Fund Ball. The Youth Fund Ball campaign is part of a large-scale campaign to raise awareness of the fund. Not all low-income parents are aware of the opportunities offered by the Youth Fund for Sports & Culture. The municipality of Delft and the Youth Fund want to change that. Therefore, primary schools and clubs have received a package of communication materials to inform parents and members about the Youth Fund.
Participating in sports and culture is important
"We see this as an important role for us," says Alderman Karin Schrederhof. "Sports and culture are about building self-confidence, personal development, and motivation. The municipality therefore wants all Delft children to be able to participate in activities like swimming lessons or soccer, even if they can't afford it at home."
The Youth Fund for Sports & Culture
It seems so normal to go to football, street dance, or another club. Yet, for many children, this isn't a given because their parents can't afford the costs. Even children from low-income families should be able to participate in sports and cultural activities. The Youth Sports & Culture Fund pays the membership fees or tuition for these children at their sports or cultural clubs.
