Queen Máxima in Hoogeveen for the Drenthe Music Agreement

Hoogeveen – Queen Máxima visited Hoogeveen on Thursday, June 20th. As honorary chair of "Méér Muziek in de Klas" (More Music in the Classroom), she attended the signing of the Drenthe Music Agreement. This agreement stipulates that various parties will commit to more and better music education in Drenthe primary schools in the coming years. The Queen was welcomed by 500 children at the De Tamboer theater, who sang the song "Doe je mee" (Doe je mee) for her, written by Drenthe singer Martijje.
The Drenthe Music Agreement has been signed by 51 parties. These include school boards, all Drenthe municipalities, the province of Drenthe, cultural institutions, teacher training colleges, conservatories, and music providers. Ten-year-old Jasper Bosman from Emmen signed on behalf of all the children in Drenthe.

Festive program

The 500 children in attendance came from all twelve Drenthe municipalities. They received a body percussion lesson from Mark Wester in a preliminary program and practiced the song Are you joining us? and the movements that go with it.

When Queen Máxima arrived around 11:00 a.m., she was greeted with loud applause. The Queen, along with Méér Muziek in de Klas ambassador Ilse de Lange, enjoyed the festive program, which began with the song "Happy" performed by the brass quintet Vieve Brass, made up of students from the ArtEZ Conservatory. Then, 51 students from OBS De Tolter and KC Beatrixschool in Meppel took the stage. They sang the song "Happy" with specialists from NHL Stenden. Dum Dum Song They played ukuleles and boomwhackers. This was followed by performances by the brass section of OBS De Dobbe from Gasselte and OBS Gieten, in collaboration with the music association De Harmonie Gasselte and TOGIDO from Eext, as well as a duet by singer-songwriter Daisy and Voice Kids finalist Robin Tinge. The program concluded with the rehearsed song Are you joining us?, which singer Martijje sang together with the audience.

Mobile studio

Queen Máxima then visited the mobile workshop of the Leerorkest Instrument Depot Foundation. The depot lends instruments to music education initiatives, such as Leerorkesten, throughout the Netherlands. The mobile workshop is used for transporting the instruments, as well as for repairs and maintenance. Local volunteers and teachers participate in workshops to help them manage their own maintenance and repairs.
